Losartan, also known as Cozaar, is a medication used to lower high blood pressure. It is an angiotensin II agonist.
It is only obtainable on prescription and is available as 50mg and 100mg tablets. Losartan is often a second-choice treatment when a patient has not responded well to another blood pressure lowering medication.
Losartan is an ARB (angiotensin II receptor blocker). Angiotensin II is a chemical within the body that tightens blood vessels which can cause a high blood pressure. It also causes the body to retain fluids.
Losartan helps these blood vessels to relax. It also helps to lower the volume of blood within the body, thereby helping to lower your blood pressure and assist your heart with pumping blood around the body.
Losartan can be taken by adults over the age of 18. It comes in tablet form and should be taken once a day.
A doctor will determine whether you are a suitable candidate for Losartan.
Your dose will be determined by your doctor, but it is usually taken in 50mg tablets. Those over 75 and people who have recently lost bodily fluids will need to take a lower dose.
You may be advised to take it just before bed for the first dose, but it can then be taken at any time of the day. It must be taken at the same time each day.
You can take Losartan with or without food, though it is advisable to take Losartan with food to prevent feelings of dizziness. Swallow the tablets with a glass of water.
Do not stop taking Losartan even on the days you feel well; you must continue to take the medication daily as you will still be deriving benefits from the medicine.
If you are unsure how to take Losartan, speak to your doctor or a pharmacist before you buy Losartan online.
Losartan, much like any other medicine, carries a number of potential risks and may not be suitable for everyone. Understanding the risks associated with any medication you are taking is an important part of your treatment.
We strongly encourage you to read the patient information leaflet (PIL) relating to Losartan before you begin treatment. This leaflet contains important information that you need to be aware of, such as associated side effects, contraindications and ingredients. You will find this leaflet enclosed within the packaging of your medicine.
Alternatively, you can view the leaflet for Losartan online.
Every medicine has the potential of causing side effects, though you may not experience them. It's always important to remain vigilant of any side effects related to the medicine you are taking.

Always seek your doctor's advice before you buy Losartan online from Prescription Doctor.
Do not take Losartan past the expiry date printed on the packaging.
Never throw away your medicine via household or water waste. Take any unwanted or expired medicine to your local pharmacy and ask them to dispose of the medicine on your behalf.
Always store medicine out of the sight and reach from children and pets.
Never share your medicine with anybody else, even if they are experiencing the same symptoms as you.
If you forget to take a dose of Losartan, take it as soon as you remember. Never take two tablets at once (“double dose”). If you regularly forget to take your tablet, you should try setting an alarm to remind yourself. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist as they may be able to recommend alternate methods to help you remember.
If you take too much Losartan you should ring the NHS emergency helpline on 101, ring your doctor or head to A&E as soon as possible.
Do not drive; get someone to take you to A&E.
Keep the medicine and packaging with you as you may need to answer some questions.
Alcohol can lower the blood pressure and when this is combined with blood-lowering medication such as Losartan, this can be dangerous. It is therefore advisable that users avoid alcohol while being treated with Losartan.
Losartan can sometimes make users feel dizzy or light-headed, particularly when first taking it. If you feel dizzy it is important that you do not drive a car, ride a bike or operate machinery.
