Onglyza is a brand of Saxagliptin, manufactured by AstraZeneca, that is used to treat adults with type 2 diabetes.
Your doctor may prescribe Saxagliptin on its own or alongside another anti-diabetic, such as Metformin. Some medicines, such as Komboglyze, contain Metformin and Saxagliptin in a single tablet.
In order to buy Onglyza online from Prescription Doctor, you will need to fill out our online medical form for one of our prescribers to review.
If your order is approved before 3pm on weekdays, our UK pharmacy can dispatch your item the same day via a fast and discreet next-day delivery.
Onglyza is prescribed for high blood sugar caused by type 2 diabetes - a condition which causes an elevated amount of glucose in the blood.
Taking Onglyza as prescribed controls blood sugar levels, thus improving the levels and effects of insulin.
Onglyza should be taken alongside a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Eating healthy food and exercising regularly can help to keep your blood sugar levels under control.
Always take Onglyza as prescribed. Your doctor will be able to determine the most suitable course of treatment for you, which may include changes to your diet and lifestyle.
The recommended dosage is 5mg per day, but may be 2.5mg daily in the case of impaired kidney function.
Swallow Onglyza tablets whole with a glass of water. Onglyza can be taken with or without food.
Do not crush or chew Onglyza tablets.
Take Onglyza around the same time each day to get the maximum benefit and help you remember when to take it. You may find it easy to remember if you take Onglyza alongside a meal, such as with breakfast.
During your course of treatment, your blood glucose levels will need to be regularly monitored to ensure that the treatment is effective. Your doctor will be able to provide further information specific to you and your condition.
If you forget to take your dose of Onglyza, take it as soon as you remember.
Do not take more Onglyza to make up for a missed dose. If it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue taking Onglya as normal.
Never take two doses on the same day.
If you exceed the prescribed dose, seek medical advice immediately.
Taking too much Onglyza can cause dangerously low blood sugar levels (hypoglycaemia). This is often referred to as a "hypo".
Further information about hypos can be found on the Diabetes UK website.
Before taking Onglyza, you must read the patient information leaflet enclosed with your medicine.
Alternatively, you can view the patient information leaflet for Onglyza online.
If you are unsure about anything mentioned in the supporting literature, ask one of our online prescribers.

Taking Onglyza may increase your risk of hypoglycaemia - commonly referred to as a "hypo". This is a condition in which blood sugar levels drop dangerously low.
Do not take Onglyza if you are allergic to saxagliptin or any of the other ingredients listed within the patient information leaflet.
If you experience the signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction after taking Onglyza, stop taking the medicine and inform your doctor right away. Alcohol, together with Onglyza, may affect blood glucose levels. If your diabetes is under control, moderate alcohol consumption is not a major concern. It is best to limit alcohol intake and always adhere to any specific medical advice given to you by your doctor in this regard.
If you feel dizzy while taking Onglyza, do not drive or use any tools or machines. There is a very common risk (1 in 10 or more) of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) when this medication is taken in combination with other medications, such as insulin and Sulphonylurea.
