Patient Reviews: How Warticon Cream Has Made a Difference

What is Warticon?

Warticon is an effective treatment that is prescribed for genital warts.

The treatment is an antiviral which prevents the spread of the human papillomavirus (HPV) in the body.

Warticon Cream and Warticon Solution are available to buy from Prescription Doctor following a short online consultation.

Both Warticon cream and Warticon solution contain the same active ingredient and work in the same way to get rid of genital warts.

Our pharmacy provide a fast and discreet delivery service to ensure your privacy when ordering genital wart treatments online.

What are genital warts?

What do genital warts look like?

Genital warts are small lumps or growths which appear on and around the genitals.

Warts on the genitals may appear in scattered clusters that resemble cauliflower florets.

While genital warts are painless in many cases, they can be itchy. Scratching them may cause them to bleed, which can open the area up to infection.

Symptoms of genital warts in men include:

  • Painless growths or lumps on the skin of the penis or scrotum
  • Genital itching and bleeding
  • A change in your normal pee flow

Symptoms of genital warts in women include:

  • Painless growths or lumps in or around the vagina, on the vulva (the opening to the vagina), or the cervix
  • Genital itching and bleeding
  • Change in your normal pee flow

However, genital warts can also occur around the anus in both men and women.

If you are unsure whether you have genital warts, or if you are experiencing them for the first time, speak to your doctor.

Are genital warts an STD?

Genital warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV can be passed on through vaginal, anal and, oral sex, or by sharing sex toys.

It is possible to pass genital warts onto your partner while using a condom if the condom does not cover the affected area.

Warts may appear long after being infected with the virus. The virus can lay dormant in your body and may not cause any symptoms for over a year. Even if symptoms aren't present, it is possible to pass the virus on to others through sexual contact.

To protect yourself and your partner from genital warts, it's important to wear condoms every time you have sex.

Your doctor will usually diagnose genital warts based on their appearance. They may use a swab of acetic acid to confirm their presence - if genital warts are present, the acetic acid will show up as white patches.

Genital warts can be mistaken for other conditions such as benign skin tags, molluscum contagiosum, pearly penile papules, Fordyce spots or, particularly around the anus, haemorrhoids.

If you are unsure whether you have genital warts, speak to your GP. You can also seek advice and treatment from a sexual health or genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinic.

How long do genital warts last?

Genital warts can go away on their own, though this can take a few months or even a few years.

Genital wart treatments can take a few weeks or months to work.

It's important to note that Warticon is not a cure. Even after treatment, the virus will likely still be present. Warticon does not prevent genital warts from coming back, nor does it prevent you from passing the virus on to others.

What's the difference between Warticon Cream and Warticon Solution?

Warticon cream may be easier to apply than the solution, particularly for warts in hard to reach areas.

When you order Warticon online from Prescription Doctor, we require you to answer some questions about your overall health and your specific condition - this is so that our online doctor can ensure Warticon is safe for you.

Your consultation will be reviewed by one of our online doctors. If our doctor deems the treatment suitable, they will issue a prescription for our UK based pharmacy to fulfil.

If your order is approved before 3 pm on weekdays, your order will be dispatched the same day for next-day delivery.

We understand that having genital warts may be embarrassing for you, which is why we take the extra steps to ensure your privacy when you buy treatments for genital warts online. Your item will be delivered to your door in plain packaging which does not reveal its contents.

How Does Warticon Work?

The active ingredient of Warticon is podophyllotoxin. It works by inhibiting the virus' ability to replicate inside the body.

To maintain its presence in the body, the virus infects a host cell.

The virus injects its genetic instructions into the cell, making the cell produce more copies of the virus.

Once these copies are ready, they escape the nucleus, killing the cell in the process. These new copies then seek out other host cells and the cycle continues.

When podophyllotoxin is absorbed by the skin, it prevents these cells from dividing. As a result, the cells die along with the virus, which allows new and healthy cells to take their place. Over time, the virus' presence in the body diminishes enough for the immune system to take over, clearing warts.

How to use Warticon?

One package of Warticon provides a month of treatment. Warticon is applied twice daily - once in the morning, and 12 hours later in the evening.

Warticon should be applied to small warts or clusters no larger than 4 cm in diameter.

Warticon is for external use only and is only indicated for genital warts. Do not use Warticon on internal warts which may be found inside the vagina or anus.

Warticon genital warts treatment is available as a solution or a cream.

How to use Warticon cream?

Before you apply Warticon cream, it's important to wash the area with water and mild soap.

Gently dry the area with a towel before applying the cream.

Use your fingertip to apply a small amount of Warticon cream to the affected area. Use just enough Warticon cream to cover each wart.

Rub the cream into the wart gently.

Be careful not to apply the cream to the healthy skin surrounding the warts. If you accidentally apply Warticon cream to healthy skin, wash away the cream with soap and water.

Always wash your hands after applying Warticon cream.

Ensure the lid has been screwed on tightly before storing Warticon cream.

Always store Warticon cream out of sight and reach from children and pets.

How to apply Warticon solution?

Before you apply Warticon solution, wash the area with soap and water. Gently dry the area with a towel before applying the solution.

Use a new applicator every time. The applicator has two ends - a "loop" end and a "spatula" end. The "loop" end is used for individual warts while the "spatula" end is used for larger area or clusters of warts no bigger than a postage stamp.

Dip the end of the applicator into the solution then apply it to the wart.

Ensure that the wart is completely covered with the solution and allow it to dry.

Be careful not to apply Warticon solution to healthy areas of skin surrounding a wart. If you accidentally apply Warticon solution to healthy skin, wash it away with soap and water.

Always wash your hands thoroughly after using Warticon solution.

Make sure the lid is screwed on tightly before storing Warticon solution.

Always store Warticon solution out of sight and reach from children and pets.

The leaflet enclosed with your medicine contains vital information on how to use and store Warticon, as well as lists of known side effects and ingredients.

You can read the patient information leaflet for Warticon Solution online.

Allergies

Do not use Warticon if you are allergic to podophyllotoxin or any of the other ingredients listed in the patient information leaflet.

If you experience an allergic reaction after applying Warticon, wash off the treatment with soap and water, stop the treatment and speak to your doctor. Warticon is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Speak to your doctor about an alternative genital wart treatment if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant or are breastfeeding.

If you become pregnant while using Warticon, speak to your doctor as soon as possible.

It is important to treat genital warts during pregnancy. If you are pregnant and develop genital warts, or think you might have genital warts, you must speak to your doctor or midwife. Genital warts can grow and multiply during pregnancy and may cause complications for you or your baby.

In rare cases, HPV - the virus responsible for genital warts - can be passed on to your baby, and cause infections in your child's throat or genitals.

Always read the enclosed patient information leaflet before you start using Warticon.

Please inform our doctor of all medicines you are currently taking, including those prescribed or bought over the counter. You should also mention any health and herbal supplements you are taking.
