What is Excessive ear wax?

Some people get more ear wax build-up because they naturally produce more of it. Those who wear earplugs or earphones on a regular basis, or insert cotton buds into the ears, can also develop excessive ear wax.

Ear wax usually falls out by itself, most commonly during sleep. But anything that is put into the ear can potentially block the substance from leaving, and may even push it further into the ear canal.

Excessive ear wax may lead to a temporary loss of hearing. It can also result in earache, itchiness, dizziness, ringing in the ears (Tinnitus) and even an ear infection.

How do Otex Express Ear Drops work?

The active ingredient, urea hydrogen peroxide, works by dissolving ear wax.

The ear wax falls out naturally, relieving your symptoms of built-up or impacted ear wax.

How long does Otex take to work?

You should notice a difference after 3 to 4 days of using Otex.

If your symptoms persist after 4 days, speak to your doctor.

How do I use Otex Express Ear Drops?

Repeat the following steps once or twice a day, for 3 to 4 days, until an improvement is noticed in your symptoms.

  1. Remove the cap to uncover the applicator.

  2. Lie down or tilt your head on one side and apply up to 5 drops to the affected ear.

  3. Maintain this position for a few minutes so that the drops remain in the ear.

  4. Then return upright and wipe the excess fluid from the outside of your ear.

If needed, repeat these steps for your other ear.

When finished, wash your hands thoroughly.

After 3 to 4 days of treating your ears with Otex Ear Drops, you can use the included bulb syringe (only available in the combi-pack) to gently clean your ears.

Simply fill the bulb syringe with clean warm water, tilt your head to the side, so that your ear is pointing slightly downwards, and flush your ears out with the water.

Do not push the bulb syringe into your ear canal and do not try to syringe the ear-wax out of your ear as this can damage your ear.

Bulb syringes are also available in various sizes from high-street pharmacies and supermarkets.

What should I do if I get Otex Ear Drops in my eyes?

If you accidentally get Otex Ear Drop solution in your eyes, rinse your eyes immediately with cold water. Inform your doctor as soon as you can.

If pain and irritation persists, seek immediate medical attention by going straight to your nearest accident and emergency department.

Getting hydrogen peroxide in the eyes can cause irritation, stinging, and damage to the cornea.
