How to Use Mounjaro Injection

Introduction to Manjaro QuickPen

In this video, you will learn how to use the Manjaro QuickPen, which is a disposable, multi dose, single patient use, prefilled pen. 

One dose to be taken weekly of either Monjaro 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 7.5 mg, 10 mg, 12.5 mg, or 15 mg.

Injection Dosage and Procedure

Regardless of dose, each quick pen injection will inject 0.6 millilitres of solution in a single weekly injection. After 4 doses, dispose of the pen. Do not share your Monjaro QuickPen with other people even if the pen needle has been changed. You may give other people a serious infection or get a serious infection from them. People who are blind or who have vision problems should not use the pen without help from a person trained to use the pen.

For optimal weight loss results with Mounjaro, follow these steps:

Gather Supplies

Before administering your Mounjaro injection for the first time, read the Mounjaro instructions in your patient information leaflet. 

Preparation 

Start by washing your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap.

Choose and Clean the Injection Site

Mounjaro is administered as a subcutaneous injection, which means you inject it into the fatty tissue just under your skin. You should rotate your injection sites with every dose to prevent hard lumps from developing under your skin.

• Stomach — Avoid scar tissue and stay at least two inches away from your belly button.     
• Back of your upper arm — You may need someone to help you reach.      
• Thigh — Choose a different area for every dose to minimise the risk of scar tissue or injection. 

Don’t inject into areas where your skin is irritated or bruised.

Inspect Your Injection: 

Check your Mounjaro pen to make sure it hasn’t been used, isn’t broken and the medicine is clear and colourless, finally, check the expiry date hasn’t passed.

Insert Needle

Attach a new needle from the pack by pushing it into the pen and twisting it until it is secure.

Prime Injection Pen

Turn the dose selector until you see the flow check symbol. With the needle pointing up in the air, tap the cartridge gently to collect air bubbles at the top. Press the dose button until a drop appears on the needle tip.

Select The Dose

Turn the dose selector until the prescribed dose appears in the window; depending on your pen, this will be 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 7.5 mg, 10 mg, 12.5 mg, or 15 mg

Position The Weight Loss Injection

If you are nervous about administering your injection, you will tense up. 

Try to distract yourself by listening to soothing music while injecting. 

Sitting rather than standing can also help to relax your muscles.

Administer the Injection Pen Dose

Press and hold the dose button until the dose selector shows 0 and you hear a click. 

Continue to hold the dose button in and slowly count to 6 to make sure the full dose is delivered.

Wait for the Injection to Complete

Remove Injection

Carefully lift the Mounjaro weight loss injection from your skin and dispose of the needle in your sharps bin. Never reuse needles!

Components and Preparation

In the video, you will see the parts of the Manjaro KwikPen. To inject, you will need the following supplies; 

• 1 Manjaro KwikPen., 
• compatible needle, 
• a swab, some gauze or a cotton ball, 
• and a sharps disposal container. 

First, we need to prepare to inject Manjaro KwikPen. The first step is to wash your hands with soap and water. Pull the pen cap straight off, inspect the pen and label, and do not use if the medication name and dose strength does not match your prescription, if the pen is expired, looks damaged, or the medication has been frozen, has particles, is cloudy, or is discolored.

Priming and Injection Process

Monjaro should be colourless to slightly yellow. Wipe the red inner seal with a swab. Select a new pen needle. Always use a new pen needle for each injection to help prevent infections and blocked needles. Pull off the paper tab from the outer needle shield.

Push the capped pen needle straight onto the pen and twist the pen needle on until it is tight. Pull off the outer needle shield and keep it. This will be reused. Pull off the inner needle shield. That cap can go in your household bin.

First, you need to prime your pen. Priming removes air from the cartridge and make sure that your pen is working correctly. Slowly turn the dose knob until you hear 2 clicks and the extended line is shown in the dose window. This is the prime position. It can be corrected by turning the dose knob in either direction until the prime position lines up with a dose indicator.

Hold your pen with the needle pointing up. Tap the cartridge holder gently to collect air bubbles at the top. Release some medicine into the air by pushing the dose knob until it stops, then slowly count to 5 while holding the dose knob. The 0 icon must be shown in the dose window. Do not inject it into your body.

Completing the Injection

Your pen has been primed if a small amount of medicine comes out of the tip of the needle. Choose an injection site. You or another person can inject the medicine in your thigh or abdomen at least 5 centimetres from the belly button. Another person should give your injection in the back of your upper arm. Change or rotate your injection site each week.

You may use the same area of your body, but be sure to choose a different injection site within that area. Turn the dose knob until it stops at the one icon as shown in the dose window. The one icon is equal to a full 0.6 milliliter dose. Insert the needle into your skin. Inject the medicine by pushing the dose knob until it stops.

Then, slowly count to 5 while holding the dose knob. The 0 icon must be shown in the dose window before removing the needle. Pull the needle out of your skin. A drop of medicine on the needle
