Patient Reviews: How Progynova Has Made a Difference

What are Progynova TS patches used for?

Progynova TS transdermal patches are a hormonal replacement therapy for women who are going through the menopause. It is usually prescribed for women who have had their womb surgically removed - an operation called a hysterectomy.

The active ingredient of Progynova TS patches is an oestogen-analogue called oestradiol hemihydrate. It should be taken alongside another HRT which contains a progestogen.

Progynova TS patches are available in two strengths: 50mcg/24 hours and 100mcg/24 hours. Your doctor will determine which strength is most suitable for you.

Where can I buy Progynova online?

You can buy Progynova online from Prescription Doctor following an online consultation with our doctor. If your order is approved by our doctor before 3pm on weekdays, our UK based pharmacy will dispatch your item the same day via a next-day discreet delivery.

All items available through our websites are sourced from reputable UK providers and are dispatched from a GPhC registered pharmacy in the north of England.

How do Progynova TS patches work?

Progynova TS patches contain oestradiol hemihydrate, a naturally occurring form of the female sex hormone oestrogen.

The patches allow the hormone to be absorbed through the skin over the course of 24 hours.

Oestrogen (sometimes spelt estrogen), is a hormone produced by the ovaries which regulates the lining of the uterus (endometrium) and strengthens bones.

During the menopause, the level of oestrogen falls. This can cause a number of symptoms including:

  • Breast tenderness
  • Depression
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Hot flushes
  • Increased risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  • Irregular or no periods
  • Mood swings
  • Vaginal dryness

Progynova TS patches are prescribed to combat these uncomfortable symptoms, if they hinder a woman's daily life.

Every woman's experience of the menopause is unique to them - some women may experience mild symptoms which don't interfere with their lives while other women find their symptoms to be very disruptive.

If you are experiencing menopause symptoms which are affecting your life, it's important to speak to your doctor. They can discuss treatment options with you to determine the most suitable one for you.

How to use Progynova TS patches?

Progynova TS patches are applied to skin around the lower abdomen or the buttocks.

  1. To apply a patch, remove the protective liner from the patch. You can throw the protective liner in the bin.
  2. Put the patch sticky side down on a clean and dry area of skin around your abdomen or buttocks. Avoid placing the patch around the waistline as it may get rubbed off by clothing.
  3. Press the patch down firmly with your palm to ensure it adheres to your skin. Check the edges of the patch to ensure it is firmly attached to your skin.

So long as the patch it applied correctly, you can bath or shower as normal. Take care when scrubbing skin around the patch to ensure the patch doesn't fall off.

Do not apply Progynova TS patches to the breasts.

Do not apply Progynova TS patches to the same place twice in a row. Always choose a different place to apply a new patch.

Progynova can be used in two ways; Continuous or cyclic.

Continuous use

Apply 1 patch per week. Remove the patch after 7 days and apply a new patch to a different place on your body.

Cyclic use (includes a week long break)

Apply 1 patch per week for 3 weeks. Take a 7-day break before applying a new patch.

You will experience a withdrawal bleed once a month.
